Taking these slow moments of self-quarantine, social distancing and forced time spent indoors to update this blog and get things rolling. I thought it would be super fun & helpful to those who are engaged and planning their engagement photos soon to give you an inside look at ours, as well as provide you with some tips + tricks on how to style them!
This day was magical. Freezing, but magical. It was roughly 40 degrees outside, windy, and we were sitting on the bay. Needless to say, we were a tad chilly. Nevertheless, these photos are a DREAM. This shoot made me so gosh dang excited for our wedding day!!
The mastermind and photo genius behind these gorgeous photos is Sarah Lancaster, with Sarah Eleanor Photography. She is nothing shy of phenomenal and works overtime to make her couples comfortable and having fun (even in the cold!)!! Shooting with her has made me SO freakin’ pumped to see our actual wedding photos!
STYLING YOUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS:
When choosing what to wear, I wanted to keep things fairly simple and very “us”. We went for neutral colors to keep things clean and classic, but I loved the burgundy pullover Landon wore to mix things up a bit!
Here’s a word of advice to all my brides though- choose a couple different looks! I was debating keeping it simple because I felt super extra with an outfit change. But don’t let that deter you! It was SO nice to have options for our save the dates because you NEVER know what you’re going to like best when you look back at them!!!
Keep at least one of your looks casual- whatever that means to you! You want your engagement photos to look and feel like YOU, not some Pinterest-goals & Instagram-model couple wearing something you’d normally never pick out for yourself. If that’s graphic tees and jeans for you, then, by golly, do it! If you feel your best dressed a little more biz-casual, then go ‘head with your bad self!!
P.S.- ladies! You can never go wrong with white! You’re a BRIDE girlfriend, ROCK IT!
My second piece of advice- add a nicer look in the mix. Look, we’re not boujie people. We don’t wear collared shirts and floor-length dresses on the daily. BUT, I love that we dressed things up a little bit for some of our photos. They turned out absolutely STUNNING! We kept it simple- Landon is wearing the same pants & shoes, but threw on a plain white button-up to dress up his look. I put on a simple, form-fitting black dress from Lulus I had in my closet! I even kept the shoes the same (heels + sand = a no go), and took them off when they’d be obviously weird with a dress in the pictures.
HINT- flowy elements add movement to your photos and makes them feel more “alive”. They also give you something to do with your hands if you’re not sure where to put them! This could be a dress, blanket scarf, cardigan, etc.
You got this ladies! I can’t wait to see ALL the sweet engagement photos!!!
Thanks for sticking around & loving on ours!
